Department of Social Welfare Kishtwar Organises Counselling Session for Registered Drug Addicts for De-addiction and Social Rehabilitation

On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma, JKAS, during the District level NCORD meeting a special counselling and awareness session was organised today at the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF), Kishtwar, for registered drug addicts of the district.
The initiative was jointly organised by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the District Employment and Counseling Centre Kishtwar, under the overall supervision of the District Social Welfare Officer, Kishtwar, Sh. Tariq Parvez Qazi, JKAS.
During the session, participants were provided with structured counselling and sensitised about various Government flagship schemes being implemented by different departments.
The aim of the programme was to empower the beneficiaries, enhance their employability, and facilitate their return to the mainstream of society for a dignified and self-reliant life, as envisioned by the Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar.
Dr. Sana Jan Butt, Psycho-Social Counsellor, One Stop Centre (OSC), Kishtwar, conducted a special counselling session and interacted extensively with the participants, focusing on mental well-being, motivation, and long-term recovery strategies.
The programme was attended by TSWO Paddar, Sh. Rajesh Sharma, and Employment Officer, Kishtwar, Sh. Vinod Kumar Shant, who briefed the participants about employment opportunities and skill-based interventions available through government platforms and other participants.
Staff from ATF Kishtwar also remained present during the session.
