A two-day range-level workshop on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and its application was held at the District Police Lines (DPL) Baramulla, in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu and Kashmir.

The workshop aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of the legal provisions, enforcement mechanisms, and practical applications of the NDPS Act.

The event was inaugurated by Dy. Inspector General of Police (DIG) North Kashmir Range, Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman, IPS, and attended by GOs, NGOs, and prosecuting officers from across the North Kashmir Range (NKR). Additionally, proceedings were broadcast via video conferencing for the benefit of outstation SSPs.

In his keynote address, DIG Maqsood-ul-Zaman emphasized the urgency of addressing the challenges posed by drug abuse and trafficking.

He highlighted the importance of collaboration with agencies, legal practitioners, policymakers, and social workers in combating the growing menace.

“Interactive discussions, case studies, and expert insights are essential in equipping us with the tools to tackle the evolving drug crisis.

This workshop is a step towards enhancing our collective ability to address this challenge effectively,” he stated.

The workshop featured discussions on strategies, solutions, and the human cost of drug abuse, which has left families devastated and futures destroyed.

Participants were encouraged to share their experiences and engage actively to maximize the benefits of the training program.

DIG Maqsood-ul-Zaman concluded the workshop by thanking the distinguished speakers from NCB and all participants for their dedication. He called for stronger partnerships and renewed commitment to creating a safer, drug-free society.

The workshop marks a significant effort in equipping law enforcement and prosecuting officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to combat the drug menace in the region effectively.
